Recently, Mrs. He discharged from Hospital-sponsored Xiangtan ECMO Medical Technology Guidance Center. She is the first case received by the center.
In the early morning of July 22, Jiang Mingyan, Director of the Center and Department of RICU, received an emergency call from other hospital in our city. After careful questioning, it was learned that the patient was a 44-year-old female who presented to the doctor due to acute intestinal obstruction. The hospital gave active anti-infection, anti-shock, endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation treatments, but the patient's vital signs were still extremely unstable, and the only hope was ECMO support.
For more professional and precise treatment, the patient was transferred to RICU of our hospital in the morning of the same day. After admission, Jiang’s team immediately activated 24-hour intensive care andprimary medical care on duty, and organized an ECMO condition monitoring group to closely monitor the condition and accurately regulate the treatment. During the period, Director Jiang always paid attention to the patient's condition day and night, accurately grasped the various indicators related to the patient's life, and organized experts from general surgery, gastroenterology, blood transfusion, hematology and other disciplines to conduct hospital consultations and jointly participate in the treatment.
Finally, with the joint efforts of the ECMO medical team led by Director Jiang, on July 31, the patient’s vital signs gradually stabilized and the patient was successfully disconnected from ECMO; on August 4, the patient turned to safety and successfully removed the tracheal tube and stopped the ventilator treatment. On August 5, the patient was transferred out of the ICU and transferred to the general ward.On August 13, her condition improved.
